The season's best forward?

POLL:  rugby365com compiled a list of the best forwards for the Super Rugby 2018 season.

Springboks Malcolm Marx, Jean Luc du Preez and Lodewyk de Jager represent the South African conference.

The Lions Malcolm Marx has been phenomenal this season. The hooker, who usually stepped up when the Lions' electric backline fails to produce the points, has scored 12 tries and is the only forward who is in the top five on the try-charts.

The New Zealand conference is represented by Crusaders Scott Barrett, Blues Jerome Kaino and Chiefs Brodie Retallick.

Though brothers Beauden and Jordie Barrett steal most of the headlines, Scott Barrett's deserves all the accolades after his performance during the season. The lock's impact in the Crusaders' 37-18 Grand Final win over the Lions was undeniable. The lock was not only impressive in defence but his attack was just as good. He made 11 metres, six carries and scored a crucial try.

Rebels Amanaki Mafi and Brumbies David Pocock represent the Australian Conference.

Mafi's farewell season may not have concluded as plan after the assault on teammate Lopeti Timani following the Rebels' 37-43 defeat to the Highlander in Dunedin.

However, the loose forward's on-field performance has been a shining light for the Melbourne Rebels. The No.8 leads the Rebels for turnovers, lineout steals, tackles per game, offloads, pick and drives, runs and run meters per game. In terms of Super Rugby, Mafi (253 carries) is in first place for the most carries in the season.
