VIDEO: Rassie's Bulls role revealed

WATCH as Xander Janse van Rensburg, High-Performance Manager at Blue Bulls Company, explains the role of Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus at the Pretoria franchise.

The Bulls are still searching for a replacement, as Super Rugby coach, for John Mitchell - who departed Pretoria in September to join England as a defence coach.

Janse van Rensburg said Erasmus and his Bok management team will assist the Bulls in an "advisory" capacity and have already started with the pre-season planning.

"They will be available to help us after the [Springbok year-end] tour," he told a media briefing in Pretoria.

"They will be, during the transition period in pre-season, help us manage the process of [finding] the new coach and ensure we are on the right track.

"They will give us guidance."

He added that Erasmus is not a candidate as head coach.

"He will assist us, in an advisory capacity."

Janse van Rensburg was not willing to commit to whether they are looking locally or international for a new coach.

"We are in the process [of looking for a coach] and we are throwing the net wide," he said, adding: "We to ensure we find the correct candidate."

A number of candidates have already ruled themselves out of the running - including Fourie du Preez, Jimmy Stonehouse, Swys de Bruin and John Dobson.

Recent reports have listed Bok legend Victor Matfield as one of the leading candidates - with the names of Deon Davids (Southern Kings), Johan Ackermann, (Gloucester) and Johann van Graan (Munster) also thrown into the hat.
