REPORT: Former Sharks speedster to fill Zebo void at Munster
TRANSFER TALK: The reigning URC champs Munster have reportedly identified a former Junior Springbok as the ideal replacement for Irish legend Simon Zebo.
With the Ireland international Zebo retiring from professional rugby at the end of the season, Munster are reportedly targeting the signature of Thaakir Abrahams.
According to French news outlet Le Progrès, the former Sharks back is set to join the reigning URC champions, having been granted an early release from his deal with Lyon.
Abrahams was under contract with Lyon until June 25.

He joined Lyon last year, but the move has not gone as planned. He has played just 12 games out of a potential 32 for the Top 14 strugglers this season.
However, he had more success in the Champions Cup, scoring five tries and five matches for the French side this season.
The 25-year-old South African's evasive running and incredible pace have earned comparisons to Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe.
Before his time with Lyon, Abrahams became a key contributor for the Sharks in the URC scoring five tries in the 2022/23 season.
Munster attack coach Mike Prendergast told the Irish Times they have been aware of Abrahams from his performances for the Sharks in the URC.
However, he did not confirm whether the South African speedster will join the defending champs.
“We’d have known him from URC as well, playing with the Sharks then went on to Lyon in the Top 14 last year,” Prendergast told the Irish Times.
“He’s a wonderful player. He’s electric – really, really good footwork. Very quick, elusive, got that X-factor ability about him."
