Bok lock starts rehab after surgery
INJURY UPDATE: World Cup-winning Springbok lock Rudolph Snyman has started the long road back to full recovery, after going under the knife.
His Irish province, Munster, confirmed that Snyman has undergone surgery - after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament last month - and has begun his rehabilitation.
He joins fellow South African import and one-time Springbok Jason Jenkins (thigh) in the Munster rehab squad.
Snyman, 26 and capped 23 times by his country, suffered a re-rupture of his ACL in a United Rugby Championship win over Scarlets last month.
The Bok stalwart featured off the bench at Parc y Scarlets and nine minutes later was forced off after rupturing his ACL.
Snyman has only just returned from a long-term injury lay-off.
Snyman, a key member of the Springboks' 2019 World Cup-winning squad, tore his ACL just seven minutes into his Munster debut – when he fell awkwardly after poaching a Leinster line-out back in August 2020.
His comeback was then derailed when he suffered severe burns in the infamous Munster fire pit incident in May this year.
He had already made two appearances off the bench in Munster's two opening URC games this season since returning from injury.
The majority of the Munster squad returned to the High-Performance Centre at the University of Limerick this week - ahead of the next block of fixtures that begins with a two-match tour to South Africa in less than three weeks.
The two-time European champions, Munster, face the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, November 27, and the Lions at Ellis Park a week later.
