Scottish derby postponed due to Covid-19 outbreak
NEWS: The first leg of the 1872 Cup between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh, which was due to be played on Monday, has been postponed.
This is due to a Covid-19 outbreak within the Glasgow squad.
It means only one game has been played in Round Eight of the United Rugby Championship and that was Benetton's 39-14 win over Zebre in Parma on Friday.
"The game was due to take place on Monday, December 27 in Glasgow, however, a number of positive Covid-19 cases within the Glasgow Warriors squad have been reported by the club," said a statement from the URC on Monday.
"The URC Medical Advisory Group has liaised with Glasgow Warriors and Public Health Scotland and deemed that the fixture cannot go ahead as scheduled.
"The United Rugby Championship will now consider available dates to reschedule the game."
Other Round Eight games that have fallen victim to Covid-19 include two all-Welsh encounters - Ospreys v Dragons and Cardiff v Scarlets - and two Irish derbies in the form of Munster v Leinster and Ulster v Connacht.
