Stormers star sustains 'serious injury' due to Aki's shocker

REACTION: Stormers head coach John Dobson revealed that wing Seabelo Senatla is set to be out of action for a lengthy period after he sustained a "serious injury" in a dangerous cleanout from Connacht centre Bundee Aki.

The incident happened in the 61st minute of the Stormers' 38-15 bonus point win over the Irish side.

With Senatla attempting to steal the ball on the ground, Aki came crashing into him with most of the contact around the head and neck area.

Aki received a red card for the incident.

The story continues below...

"I don’t know what they are going to say about the card, but it has done a serious injury to Senatla," said Dobson.

"I don’t when he is going to play rugby again. It's a big blow for us.

"It's related to his shoulder and pectoral muscles."

Dobson added: "A feel a bit sorry for Aki and I know what he is trying to do.

"It's tough, but we can’t have Senatla out for the season.

"He will get a scan. Rugby is evolving fast... big people moving fast."

Meanwhile, Dobson was frustrated with his team's discipline and execution in the match.

"We knew they would be a really tough team and their attack was good," said the Stormers coach.

"They are one of the better attacking teams in terms of how direct they are and how they get momentum.

"I thought our discipline was really poor, which is frustrating.

"We won't win the thing with 14 penalties.

"I think we left one or two [tries] out there after the red card.

"I don't think we were really clever after the red card because we started to kick for distance and we used our legs to chase when there was space if we kept the ball in hand."
