The evidence says: 'It was over'
The question about the Stormers' last gasp 17-15 win over Ulster in Cape Town at the weekend has been settle.
We have found indisputable evidence that Manie Libbok’s game-winning kick was legitimate and the match officials were correct in awarding it.
Trailing 10-15 deep into extra time, the Stormers scored out through fullback Warrick Gelant in the 85th minute to tie up proceedings at 15-all.
With a pressure kick to win the game from out wide, Libbok’s effort looked online to start and then began to fade high and right.
Ulster players asking for a TMO review of the kick were dismissed.
Sceptics asked why it was not at least looked at.
Twitter user @StanderMartin provided the answer.
The two assistant referees directly behind the posts and at least one Ulster player underneath the posts followed the ball as it sailed between the uprights.
Stander's angle from behind the posts also confirms why the assistant referees awarded the kick and those emotional post-match outcries were unfounded.
