Bastion don't concern Villagers

Although Steinhoff Bastion are a complete unknown factor for Pukke's number one koshuis team, Steinhoff Villagers, they are not too worried ahead of their 2010 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships fixture.

Villagers face the UJ side in Potchefstroom on Monday and, acccording to Sias van Rensburg, the Villagers coach, they have only a little bit of information about some of Bastion's players.

"But that's not something I'm concerned about," he said. "We want to focus on our game so we don't spend time wondering what the opposition is going to bring to the party."

He says there are no superstars in his team.

"We are rather a very well-balanced team and I expect from each player to be the best he can be. We had a warm-up match against the Pukke Under-21 team earlier in the week and apart from a few finishing touches, I am confident my lads are up for the challenge," he told varsitycup.co.za.

"Overall I was very satisfied and we are pretty much where we want to be at this point. The guys are showing plenty of commitment and they cannot wait now for the competition to start."

Van Rensburg will select his team on Thursday night only, but the Villagers coach will have lots of talent at his disposal when he finally decides on his starting XV.

"We have good depth this year and the guys have a very positive outlook on matters. For example I didn't even have problems getting the guys fit so early in the season!"
