Dromedaris relying on their newbies

The Men from Dromedaris, at the University of Johannesburg, are relying on many of their first-year students to win Saturday's Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships match against Maroela from Tuks.

"It was a tough week and we struggled to get the boys to come to practice. Most of them had to study for semester tests that started this week," Matilda Jacobsz told varsitycup.co.za on Friday.

Dromedaris were forced into making several changes to the starting line-up that beat Monitor 35-25 last week, resulting in many senior players starting from the bench.

UJ's Dromedaris is known as the 'Rugby Res' on campus and therefore lost a lot of key players to the university teams that play against Tuks in the recent Intervarsity matches.

Jacobsz added: "We hope the first years in the team adapt to the gameplan quickly and that they will pull the game through for us.

"We know Maroela are a strong side and they will start the game firing on all cylinders."

The players will be challenged and pushed to the limit in the intense Johannesburg heat at the University of Johannesburg Stadium in Westdene on Saturday.
