Dead-eye Stevens back for Maties

Star scrumhalf Donald Stevens has been recalled to the FNB Maties starting line-up for Saturday's WP Super League clash against Helderberg.

Stevens (pictured, right), the FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International Player of the Tournament, replaces Henoe Stoffberg in the No.9 shirt, with the latter shifting to fullback.

After Stoffberg's kicking woes against UCT at Newlands last weekend - he kicked one from five only - Stevens, the leading points-scorer in the 2009 Varsity Cup, is likely to take over the goalkicking from his teammate.

Maties, of course, drew 16-16 with the Ikeys on Saturday and have now slipped to second place on the Western Province Super League log.

Hamilton's are now top, with UCT in third place and Victorians (Maties' second team) in fourth position.

Helderberg, Maties' opponents tomorrow, are in eighth place on the standings, having won just one match from four starts thus far.
