Tukkies make four changes
The University of Pretoria, Tukkies, have made four changes for their match against Nelson Mandela Métropole University in Port Elizabeth on Monday - in Round Two of the FNB Varsity Cup, presented by Steinhoff International.
The inclusion of Ntokozo Mashele in the place of Currie Cup flank Gert Lubbe is the biggest surprise.
Lubbe, who played for the Falcons last year, was a thorn in the flesh of the North West University (Pukke) in Potchefstroom on Monday and contributed generously to the victory.
There are two changes in the backline, with Aaron Denenga replacing Elwyn Fransman and Christiaan van den Berg who will take over at scrumhalf in the place of Ignick Windvogel. Windvogel scored one of Tukkies' two tries.
Van den Berg was one of the reliable players in the Lions junior ranks and he represented the union at Under-19 and Under-21 levels. His tactical kicking is one of his strong points and this is where he offers an extra dimension to the game.
Between him and the dangerous Jean-Claude Roos at flyhalf NMMU will have to be sharp.
Kurt Haupt lost his place after a difficult night in Potchefstroom and will be replaced by Sylvester Booysen in the middle of the scrum.
The centre combination of Franco Booysen and Johan Jackson proved too much for the Pukke and they will be in action again.
Tukkies: 15 Piet-Piet Swart, 14 Luvuyo Mhlobiso, 13 Johan Jackson, 12 Franco Booysen, 11 Aaron Denenga, 10 Jean-Claude Roos, 9 Christiaan van den Berg, 8 Devin Oosthuizen, 7 Ntokozo Mashele, 6 Danie Crous, 5 Duncan Naudé, 4 Johan de Bruin (captain), 3 Branco Visagie, 2 Sylvester Booysen, 1 Ettienne Breytenbach.
