Varsity flavour hits CT Stadium

The premier University tournament made a welcome return on Monday, March 14 with matches played at Soccer City in Johannesburg and is set to remain at that venue for the next round on Monday, March 21 - Human Rights Day.

The Shield competition will be played on March 19, 21, 26 and 28 at neutral venues such as the Rand Stadium (March 19, 21, 26) and Soccer City (March 28).

"We are excited about the full day of action which will take place at the iconic Cape Town Stadium on March 28 - falling on Easter Monday.

"Fans from across Cape Town are in for a feast of entertainment starting at 13.00 - including two North v South derbies taking place between Maties and UJ, and Ikeys and Tuks. Another highlight is the repeat of the 2015 Varsity Cup final when Pukke face Shimlas - these two teams are enjoying a 70-year-old rugby," Varsity Cup CEO, Duitser Bosman.

The dates and venues for the semifinals and Finals of the Cup and Shield tournaments will be confirmed at the conclusion of the round-robin matches.

"We value all our fans, and we encourage everyone to bring their friends and family to join us over the next two weeks. It will be a fun day out for the whole family, as we celebrate our stars of tomorrow, and provide the teams and players with the opportunity to showcase their abilities," he added.
