Varsity Shield: UKZN slaughter Fort Hare

UKZN dominated the first half and were up three tries against Fort Hare (18-0) at the first strategy break. They doubled their lead after the short break and went into half time with a 36-0 advantage over their opponents.

UFH hoped to be put out of their misery sooner rather than later as UKZN led by 68-0 by the second strategy break. By the end of the 80 minutes UKZN amassed an astounding 97 points to Fort Hare's 0 in an absolute thrashing.

In the day's other game, UWC were too strong for TUT as the Cape side bagged a 41-16 win over the Pretoria side in Johannesburg.

UWC lead TUT 10-8 by the first strategy break in a tightly contested first 20 minutes, but by half-time UWC managed a more confident advantage of 28-18.

By the next strategy break the lead had increased to 36 points while TUT didn't secure anything else for their efforts.

TUT's score remained the same while UWC added a few more points to their name by the time the final whistle blew.
