Wallabies call up Hardman

Reds hooker hooks up with senior Australia squad

Queensland Reds hooker Sean Hardman will join the Qantas Wallabies in Perth tonight after starting hooker Adam Freier sustained ligament damage to his left foot during Saturday’s 43-18 victory over England at Telstra Dome.

Freier was replaced by Jeremy Paul at half-time after injuring his foot mid-way through the first half of Saturday’s match.

The Waratahs hooker will return home to Sydney on Sunday and will have an MRI scan on the injured foot on Monday morning.

Freier said that the foot had pulled up sore on Sunday morning.

“It’s pretty swollen and the medical staff believe that I may have done some damage to a ligament in the foot,” he said.

“Best case scenario it will be two weeks and I’m hoping that’s the case and I get a positive outcome, but I’ve got a scan tomorrow morning and we’ll see how the results go,” he said.

Prop Rodney Blake, who sustained an ankle injury during last night’s victory, remains in doubt for Saturday’s clash with Ireland at Subiaco Oval and will be re-assessed by Wallaby medical staff tomorrow.
